Ever read the report and see "Unable to fully inspect for termites due to slab edge being covered by garden or fill!" Well I did, and also used to think we had a well designed slab house and even believed that the step down slab where there's an extra level of bricks below the slab edge gave us a better termite proof slab. Well Pete convinced us that we were in a high risk termite area and should do some work around the house and expose the slab edge so it can be inspected and ensure we keep our house in order. It was a 40 degree Saturday as I was digging around the house exposing the slab edges. GUESS WHAT - holy s%$t I came across not one but three termite entry points into our family room. They had made their way through the mortar between the slab and first brick ..... I rang Pete straight away and he said "Well I can be there Monday - but I guess you won't sleep tonight or for the rest of the weekend - so I'll come around and have a look"...........on Saturday afternoon - that's service! So Pete came around and confirmed our nightmare was real and that we were lucky as they had just started. They had been there for probably 3 months or so and luckily had not done any major structural damage. We had had many prior inspections so we and he knew they weren't throughout the house. They had just made it up into the rafters but had not devoured much of our home........ You know it's amazing that if you put your ear to the board where they are you can actually hear them munching on your house! So that afternoon we signed up for the Exterra termite baiting system and the eradication of the termites from our family room. Pete and team came weekly to check on the progress of the Exterra stations that we had put in place. Within six weeks they had been cleared and we have been clear for last few years. I have since had some cement cut away from the house so that we can now see 95% of the slab edge. I suggest that readers should understand that they do get in and you can never be of the belief your house is not susceptible to termites. We have had Pete and his team servicing us for ten years and have found them a joy to work with. Spiders, Ants, Cockroaches and termites have no chance with 'Pesty' Pete and his team. They are committed, provide a quality inspection, service and advice................and could be almost seen as slightly crazy getting into our hot attic on a mid thirty degree day! We thoroughly recommend the Australian Termite Solutions team and are happy for anyone to call us. Just catch Pete for our number.
